IT Systems engineer

As CRC’s IT Systems Engineer you will be in charge of our Company Servers and Server Infrastructure. This hands-on role is responsible for systems design, setup, upkeep, security, and efficiency and is crucial for keeping our IT systems running smoothly and reliably. By leading key projects and staying proactive in managing servers, you’ll help our business thrive in a safe and effective digital space. This position reports to the Director of Global IT Infrastructure and will be essential in supporting our IT teams’ global goals and projects.

Some tasks that await you:

  • Accountable for the overall reliability, stability, and security of enterprise systems.
  • Establish and update server management standards and secure baselines.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage servers globally and in the cloud.
  • Integrate cloud-based server solutions to meet business needs.
  • Design and enforce security measures for server environments.
  • Conduct security audits and collaborate for timely vulnerability remediation.
  • Maintain accurate global server inventory and lifecycle management plans.
  • Monitor server performance metrics and implement optimizations.
  • Optimize server configurations for application performance.
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for server-related issues.
  • Develop and implement and test backup and recovery and continuity processes for critical systems.
  • Assist with Microsoft Dynamics Security roles and system troubleshooting.
  • Support system integrations and SQL server environments.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine tasks and updates.
  • Document server configurations and procedures.
  • Generate reports on server performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead or contribute to server projects like upgrades and migrations.
  • Ensure projects meet requirements and timelines.
  • Communicate technical details effectively to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate, share knowledge, and train team on new technologies and best practices.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Hybrid-remote position with occasional onsite support.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

This is what we expect from you:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive systems and infrastructure management experience.
  • Proven track record in implementing, managing, optimizing, and securing complex IT intrastructure solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications in one of the following industry standards preferred: Azure Admin, MCSA, MCSE, CISSP or equivalent technologies
  • Expertise in managing physical and virtual server infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V, Azure IaaS).
  • Managing and integrating Azure cloud platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of server security principles (secure protocols, encryption, intrusion detection).
  • Remediating server security vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with security/compliance frameworks (NIST, CISv8, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues in Windows Server, Linux, Unix environments.
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity (TCP/IIP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Advanced Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Experience with configuration automation tools.
  • Proficiency in Business Systems Administration, especially Microsoft Dynamics 365, including implementing and maintaining security roles, provisioning user accounts, integrations, and instance administration for the Development, and test environments.
  • Understanding SQL Server environments.
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring tools (NinjaOne, Nagios, SolarWinds).
  • Optimizing server configurations for workloads and applications.
  • Collaboration tools/platforms (Microsoft Teams, Slack, Jira).
  • Effective communication with technical/non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working with external vendors on issues and projects.
  • Team player and self-starter focused on results.
  • Strong documentation and presentation skills (Microsoft 365, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Creating system architecture diagrams (Visio).
  • Managing server migration, upgrades, and implementations.
  • Handling multiple projects within deadlines.
  • Awareness of emerging server technologies (virtualization, cloud computing, infrastructure as code).
  • Adapting to new technologies and best practices.
  • You work preferably from our UK offices and are willing to travel regularly to our Belgium offices. Travel to the USA may also be required.
